WaiBOP double up on Central

In Cambridge, the outcome between WaiBOP and Central had no bearing on the National Women's League (NWL) title race but still meant plenty to both sides.

A Lisa Evans strike midway through the second half gave WaiBOP maximum reward at Cambridge's John Kerkhof Park and with it a second victory of the NWL season. It was Evans' maiden NWL and she took it well, tucking her shot inside the left hand upright from just inside the box.

Both sides worked hard but clearcut chances were few and far between as the goalkeepers had quiet afternoons. Once ahead, WaiBOP held on comfortably enough, despite a late Central push.

The highlight of the second half, alongside the goal, was the return to WaiBOP colours of Kate Loye. Loye added a touch of composed quality that allowed the rest of the players to produce more confidence in their play.

In what has been a tough season, WaiBOP can take heart from knowing they'll finish with more points in 2019 than the team did in each of the previous two campaigns.
