The final groups of WaiBOP Football age group players have been announced for the National Age Group Tournament (NAGT) that will be held in Wellington from December 13th to 17th.

The five squads were selected following an extensive identification programme that began in February and included monitoring of players within their club/school competitions as well as a series of Training Camps held during the school holiday periods. Extended squads began training in October before the final 18 players in each squad were announced in early November. Preparation for the tournament will continue through term 4 with two training sessions per week and games against Northern Football, Auckland Football and Central Football teams.

The National Age Group Tournament will provide our players with the ideal platform to showcase their skills in front of NZ Football national age group coaches and selectors. A strong performance could see them invited into the National Talent Centre programme for 2018, or considered for selection into the next group of U17 Boys & Girls squads.

The National Age Group Tournament also provides our aspiring coaches with the chance to work with our most talented players at a national event and expand their own coaching knowledge and ability.
