SAFEGUARDING IN FOOTBALL
We recognise our responsibility to lead and encourage safe practices to ensure the welfare and best interests of children and vulnerable adults.
The safety and wellbeing of everyone in our football community is our top priority. We are committed to creating environments where children, youth, and adults feel respected, supported, and safe on and off the pitch. New Zealand Football’s safeguarding approach ensures clear policy, training, and support are in place to protect those involved in the game at every level.

The New Zealand Football Guidelines for Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
The Guidelines for Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults outline the steps that can be taken to safeguard children, vulnerable adults and those who work with them.
They cover protocols for working with children and vulnerable adults, safety checking, the process for arranging police vetting, dealing with the results and what to do if abuse is suspected.
New Zealand Football strongly encourages all federations, clubs and football service providers to implement these guidelines to ensure the welfare and best interests of children and vulnerable adults.
For the purpose of these guidelines, a child is aged under 18 years, and a vulnerable adult has a mental or physical impairment that means they need constant care from another person.
