WAIBOP FOOTBALL FEDERATION

WaiBOP Football helps make football and futsal happen, by supporting our member clubs accross the Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

Established in 2000, we lead, inspire and deliver football in Eastern Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo, Thames/Coromandel, Waikato and Western Bay of Plenty, with offices in Hamilton and Tauranga.

We work to enrich lives through football, building capability and leadership within our game, guided by our values of unity, pride, passion and respect.

Waikato Bay of Plenty (WaiBOP) Football is one of six Football Federations across New Zealand affiliated to the national body, New Zealand Football.

WHAT WE DO

Our work includes:

Competition Structure

Our competitions team are responsible for clubs and schools registering teams into over a hundred diferent leagues, from Under 7 through to over 35s, community through to competitive.

We create and publish draws for games across 600+ pitches in 206 locations.

During the peak of the season, we schedule over 630 games every weekend.

We manage rules and regulations, as well as the formal disputes resolution process.

Club Support

Our Football and Futsal Development team work with clubs and schools accross the region to build club cabability. WaiBOP Football has around 87 clubs and schools registered. Our largest clubs have over a thousand members, and our smaller ones less than a hundred.

We have a focus on female development to grow girls and women’s involvement in the game.

Referee Appointments

140+ referees are appointed across senior games each weekend.

Coach Development

Our Football Development Officers (FDOs) run in person coach training across the region, as well as spending time with coaches across the region providing support for coaching sessions and on game day.

Referee Development

Our referee development team provide in person referee coaching, from community referees through to those who control more competitive games.

We run three youth referee academies - in Hamilton, Tauranga and Rotorua - and provide opportunities for referee development throughout the year.

Junior Development

We run Junior Festivals and Cross over days (where diferent leagues come together in mini-tournaments). We help clubs facilitate registrations in the national registration system and distribute NZ Football Junior Resources like the Small Whites pack.

Community Engagement

We work with other community groups and sporting organisations, such as Waikato Secondary Schools Association, as we all strive to improve the quality of the football and futsal offered in the region.

We work with 16 local councils accross the region.
