Waikato double up in Futsal National League opener

Waikato have completed a National Futsal League opening weekend double over Bay of Plenty over the weekend.

Saturday's 8-0 win at Tauranga's ASB Arena over the Bay, was followed up on Sunday by an almost equally as comprehensive 8-2 victory. These results gave Waikato a dream start to the 2018 Futsal National League, ahead of a comprehnsive schedule of matches this summer.

Jordi Ditfort was Waikato's stand out performer in the weekend's opening match, netting a hat trick and being an integral performer in his team's strog showing. Haris Edlin, in nets for the BOP, put in a solid showing despite the outcome.

Jay Silcock (BOP) and Aaron Scott (Waikato), better known as an ISPS Handa Premiership player, led the way for their respective team's on Sunday, while Ditfort and Edlin were named their teams' respective players of the series for their efforts over both matches.

The Futsal National League steps up a gear for both teams over the weekend of October 27 and 28, when our region welcomes both Auckland and Northern to the Peak in Hamilton for a full weekend of matches in the Northern Travel Series.
