Jens Ottesen - nominated by Vaughan Smith.
"Jens is the First Kicks Co-ordinator for Waipuna FC in Tauranga.
"We all know this year has been difficult, but Jens has adjusted on the run every week. He is great on communication with emails. He wears shorts more often than not and is a cheerful bugger.
"His beard and his pirate talk has kept us amused during the year. The following line came at the bottom of an email from him after we went back into level 2: 'Let's hoist the mainsail, and head towards the storm.. If all else fails...there's always Rum. I'm sure there are a few Pirates among us.'
"Jens organised a tournament for the whole club in the middle of the season, which was really well thought through, including things like who each team would play to make it as close to fair as possible.
"Jens is just a great guy to have managing. The photo shows his wonderful wife Zaleika, who also does a lot for the club. I note Jen’s extended family have also helped on the sausage sizzle and setting up fields so it’s a family affair!
"He is a great ambassador!"
Jens receives a $75 meal voucher from The Barrel Room.

WaiBOP Football is acknowledging the people who make the clubs around our region tick. They may organise the gear, keep your grounds in shape, run the bar, drive the bus, coordinate teamsor, more than likely, do all of those things and more...without ever asking for a word of thanks. Our weekly Unsung Hero winner will receive a meal voucher in recognition of their contribution.
