Our region was represented by twelve sides at the 2019 Youth Futsal Championship, which was held in Wellington over the weekend.

With boys and girls sides in each of the three age groups, from both the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, this event was a huge logistical undertaking as players, management and families headed south for an intense few days of futsal.

Peformances were good, at times, and development opportunities immeasurable. 

Our Waikato U14 girls returned as champions. They were the dominant team in their age group, winning all six games and scoring 49 goals in the process.

The Waikato boys' teams were consistent as all three teams - the U14, U16 & U19 squads - finished as runners-up in their age groups.

We also had several individual award winners, including the Waikato U14 Girls who swept the board:

U-14 Girls Golden Boot: Ella McMillan, Golden Gloves: Ashley Vincent, MVP: Ella McMillan.

U-19 Boys Golden Gloves: Patrick Steele.
