WaiBOP Football Complaints Process

On-Field Infringements

On-field infringements are match-related breaches of the rules, including misconduct by players or team officials during a game, eg a card offences,
serious foul play, violent conduct and abusive or offensive language.

  • Governed by the NZF Disciplinary Code.
  • Managed by the relevant Competition Administrator or Federation Disciplinary, and Ethics Committee or NZF Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.
  • Processes to follow, including who can make a formal protest and when, are outlined in the League Regulations (In the disputes and protests section)

A formal appeal or complaint must be made by a club (not an individual)

Off-Field Complaints

  • Governed by the NZF Code of Conduct and NZF Code of Ethics.
  • Has little or no connection to the field of play but connected to football.
  • Could include behaviour (verbal or physical abuse, assault or harassment committed by a player, coach or spectators).

Players, parents and coaches should raise any issues with their club as the first step, as clubs are best placed to resolve most issues locally.

If you've already been to your club and the matter hasn't been resolved, or it's not appropriate to go through your club, you can submit to us HERE

Complaints should be directed in the first instance to the club, and can be escalated to WaiBOP through club channels if required.
